blog #8

This week i learned another way to say "because A, B". し is different from ので and different from から because you can use し more than once after the verbs/adj. Short form is still needed but it just needs a しafter every reason. The most fun thing i did this week was finding out we will be having a guest in our class for the next class. the great success i had this week was that i felt pretty well about the vocabulary quiz i took at he beginning of class and when i received my midterm back i was very content with my grade.
  • あなたが描けますか?
  • 英語は難しいですか?
  • 春と秋とどちらが好きですか?

I was unable to make class Thursday October 9th, but i did take the mid term exam and the effective ways of studying for me was looking back at old homework and studying handouts and notes that I took. Also the study guide that was given was fairly helpful, it was a great review. i would of also have liked other methods like a PowerPoint or a sheet of all the short forms and past and present tenses. other than that I think the only thing i would do differently would be to have longer time to study and review.

This week, i learned すぎます. Which means to excessively do something or excessively DON'T do something. if it is affirmative you just put it in short form and add すぎます, but if the adjective or verb is negative then you still use short form but conjugate to なさ then add すぎます. i also learned ので, which is similar to ら which means because. But you cannot use ので when the helping verbs have strong feelingsAので、B means "Because A, B. A is the dependent clause (reason/ cause) and B is the independent clause which is more important because it is the (situation/effect).
the most fun thing i had this week was the bingo game, even though i didn't win. i would have if we had more time.

this week i learned the meaning of ほうがいいです, which mean better for you to do something and better for you to not do something. the way to define ほうがいいですis if its something better to do then you use short/pass Aff. form, and if something is better if you don't do it you use short/present Neg. form. one thing that was fun for me this week was when learning the new kanj for God. i was excited to know that their was kanj for that. A challenge this week was struggling to remember the different short forms but studying it repetitively will help it stay in my memory.this week we also learned about んです,which means the explanation of a statement.

  • かぜをひかないたいんです。
  • テスト をきんちょうしんです。

Week #3
This week in Japanese class, i learned about the particle やand when to only use it between two nouns. To show a continuation of all the things you may like, not just two specific things. (and so on) not (and). the most fun thing that happened this week and my greatest success this week was when we started our newspapers. I am not the best drawer but it was fun to create a story. The difference between ~たいです and ~たがっています is that ~たいです is when your describing what YOU want to do, and ~たがっています is when your describing what SOMEONE ELSE wants to do.
  • 私は東京に行きたいます
  • メアリーさんは日本に行きたがっています

Week #2
This week in Japanese class, i learned ~たり~たりする,  which means to do something. the first verb stem must be conjugated into short form. but the second verb stem たりする gets changed to the ending たりしたいです. the most fun thing that happened this week was when we were asking our fellow classmates where we wanted to go in Japan and what we wanted to do while we were there. the great success this week was when i was able to write sentences correctly, still though the challenge that i want to overcome is being able to be correctly conjugate.

  • 日本で京都に行きたいです
  • 東京で、私は買い物に行きた、私はすしを食べたりしたいです。

Blog #2

For the first week of class i met and learned about my new sensei, who is less traditional than my previous sensei. i also learned about たい . which means "want to do". my great success this week would have to be that i haven't completely forgotten what i have learned in beginners Japanese 101, 102. my great challenge to overcome this week would to just relax and find techniques to remember kanji.
