Blog #12

Over the course of intermediate Japanese i learned a lot. i actually can remember what i learned and use it in the future for when i continue on with this course.when i like the teacher i receive the information more easier. Overall, i felt like i did fairly well in this course with participating, homework, and attendance. Parts that i know i could approve on would probably be Kanji quizzes, learning the right way to write it and just remembering what they mean. what i would do differently would be just taking time and studying or making Kanji flashcards. using a method like flashcards, i feel can really help remember and it can stay in my head concrete.

this week i learned あげる which means to give (others)・もらう which means to receive and ・くれる which means someone gives to me. the most fun thing that happened this week was asking our partners what we viewed ourselves doing in 20 years. most didn't even see themselves out of Akron.  the great success i had this week was being able to take the vocabulary quiz pushed back.

this week, i learned なら which means i haven't been there BUT I HAVE been to... the なら comes after the noun in the explanation sentence. also i learned Xがほしい, which means to want something. the most fun thing i did this week was work on my newspaper, i enjoyed using what i learned over the past weeks and writing stories. it involved surveys of my fellow classmates and even an interview of a guest we had come in. the greatest success this week was answering questions in class and just participating. no great challenge this week so i will try to keep that up.

1. 私の母は,バースデーにゆびわをほしがっています。
2. 子供のとき、私は、動物のぬいぐるみがほしかったです。
3. お金がほしいので、ストレスの少ないです。

this week i learned そうです, which means it looks like. its just a guessing statement. For い-adjectives, you just drop the い and add そうです. な-adjectives stays the same but just add そうです. the most fun thing i did this week was learning new material. the greatest success i had was when i was able to understand and answer correctly when sensei asked me a question. i did not have a challenge this week but I'm always learning and its ok to make mistakes.

• このチョコレートのケーキはおいしそうです 。    
• このは、おいしそうなチョコレートのケーキです。

• この車は速そうです。

          This week i learned another way to say "because A, B". し is different from ので and different from から because you can use し more than once after the verbs/adj. Short form is still needed but it just needs a しafter every reason. The most fun thing i did this week was finding out we will be having a guest in our class for the next class. the great success i had this week was that i felt pretty well about the vocabulary quiz i took at he beginning of class and when i received my midterm back i was very content with my grade. 

• あなたが描けますか？
• 英語は難しいですか？
• 春と秋とどちらが好きですか？

       I was unable to make class Thursday October 9th, but i did take the mid term exam and the effective ways of studying for me was looking back at old homework and studying handouts and notes that I took. Also the study guide that was given was fairly helpful, it was a great review. i would of also have liked other methods like a PowerPoint or a sheet of all the short forms and past and present tenses. other than that I think the only thing i would do differently would be to have longer time to study and review.

This week, i learned すぎます. Which means to excessively do something or excessively DON'T do something. if it is affirmative you just put it in short form and add すぎます, but if the adjective or verb is negative then you still use short form but conjugate to なさ then add すぎます. i also learned ので, which is similar to から which means because. But you cannot use ので when the helping verbs have strong feelings. Aので、B means "Because A, B. A is the dependent clause (reason/ cause) and B is the independent clause which is more important because it is the (situation/effect).
  the most fun thing i had this week was the bingo game, even though i didn't win. i would have if we had more time.
